Makaira by the SeaThe owner of Makaira has created two charming cottage rental accommodations, the second being completed in late 2006. This lovely elevated property is located on a ridge along by the Taveuni coastline, which allows guests to enjoy spectacular views of the sea, neighbouring islands and white sand beaches. The point is called Ucuilagi (oo-thoo-ee-lahng-ee), translated to mean heavenly point and it is easy to see where it gets its name. Makaira's Rental AccommodationMakaira's two accommodation bures (or cottages) are called The Marlin Bure and the newer Grander Bure. Both feature thatched Fijian-style roofs, and indoor and outdoor showers. When in the tropics, one of the joys is being able to bathe outdoors, surrounded by palm trees and tropical gardens, or gazed down upon by starfilled heavens in the evenings. The Grand Bure has a floor of imported tiles, whilst the Marline Bure has a polished Fiji hardwood timber floor and both cottages are decorated with local Fijian handicrafts and artworks. There are outdoor decks plus simple outdoor cooking facilities on the side of the deck, which enables guests to self-cater if desired. This can be a cost-saving factor when on holiday, though restaurants and resorts are close to Makaira if you prefer to dine out. The Tremonte restaurant is right below the property and has a lovely outdoor dining deck facing the west for sunsets. |
